Men’s Club News
Wow, we are coming off two great events!
First the Latke party was a huge success. Great food cooked by Abie Bockish and I would like to thank everyone who helped set-up, served and attended. We had many new faces, so continuing to get our name in the community will help with membership as well as participation in our events by non-members. Everyone helped clean up including guests so it was a nice team effort to have and fun community event. Everyone bringing their menorah and speaking about them was a great idea Rabbi Zev had and was lots of fun. Now the pressure is on the Rabbi to come up with something else for next year’s party.
Second, the Rummage Sale was fantastic. Thanks to everyone who donated! We did better than last year, and had 13 vendors outside this year, and they also did well too, so I am sure they will attend our future events. We increased our advertising this year including lots of free advertising that Faith Kaskisto placed anywhere and everywhere she could. Members from the Men’s Club, Sisterhood and other Temple members all helped with this big event. My real heroes for this event were the Rabbi, Robert Arkin, Steve Tollin, Jerry King, and Harry Goldschein (if I left anyone out I am sorry), who had moved the chairs, setup the rummage sale before I got back from an event I was attending Saturday night, and came back to help reorganize for the rummage sale we had on the 20th to try and sell what we have left. They were all limping and achy from all the merchandise they were moving and unpacking. It was greatly appreciated. Next year we will have to figure out a way to get a commitment for more people to help set up since 5 guys just cannot setup for this event.
Again whether something is a temple event, men’s club or sisterhood event, it is all to help the temple in some way, and participation is always needed. Even if you cannot move things physically there is always something you can do that will be a huge help, so do not feel you cannot be of value, trust me you can be.
